Paintings on Tea Bags

My “Tea Art” wall pieces and prayer flags are paintings on tea bags that are made from abaca which is derived from the banana plant. My starting point is outlining the wave-like tea stains with a fine marker. I then mix paint colors together to fill in the areas around the stains.  I aim for them to hold a peaceful and transcendent and at the same time stimulating feeling, as one might have when sipping a cup of tea. The imagery of oceans and land masses as if from topographical maps can take one on a visual journey.
