Sheep Shear Cuttings
Wycinanki Paper cuts (0riginal and traditional Polish) and silhouettes
I became intrigued with this traditional Polish Folk art after working in Poland as an International Four-H Youth Exchange delegate. One of the last gifts my host father gave me were several wycinanki note cards. I went back to learn more.
In 1984 I began cutting with the traditional Polish paper cutting tool (sheep shears) , and continue to cut with my first pair of 13 inch shears using techniques learned from Polish paper cutters.
All cuttings are unique and reflect my Vermont farm heritage or traditional Polish styles. They are mounted as note cards, book marks or framed art.
Silhouettes are cut using a "Look and Cut" (without sketching) method (either in person or from a photograph). Silhouettes are mounted and ready to frame.
