Mystic Metallurgy

Rich Gillis is best known for his various installations of gates, railings, and arbors throughout New England. He combines traditional blacksmithing techniques and styles with welding to create his flowing style of organic functional forms and sculpture. Gillis enjoys combining various elements within his works; examples of this can be seen in his furniture and railings, where he incorporates granite as table tops, found rocks and glass floats for balusters, and crystals within candle holders and chandeliers. "Iron work provides the most versatile and flexible medium for attaining structurally sound creations with elegance, grace, and beauty."
