Maya Zelkin Pottery

My intent is to create functional ware with strong forms, conveying a sense of movement or a gesture, enhanced by the process of firing with wood. Function is expressed in a variety of forms for use throughout the home, including dinnerware. The fired glazes and clays are food safe; most pieces can be used in a microwave, dishwasher, or conventional oven. This ware is not suitable for stove top use, and care should be taken to avoid excessive thermal shock to the pottery.

Wheel throwing and hand building techniques are employed to produce forms ranging from simple to sculptural.
