Lynne Barton Studio

I live and make art at the small crossroads settlement of Clarendon Springs, Vermont where I take inspiration from the natural world. This work is a result of my fascination with the unfathomable time and geological force recorded in tiny details of texture and color upon stone. These particular large scale "stone portraits" attempt to reveal the varied nature of stone via oil on panel and through the process of drawing. It is through these intimate examinations that I connect to the awesome power of the universe.
