Karen Henderson
With my work, I explore the connections between self, place, emotion and time. I try to recreate these natural occurrences, evoking emotions I associate with them through the use of color, line, and texture.
I work with weaving, shibori, batik, rust print, and stitching. Most of these techniques are very contemplative, encouraging introspection; other processes are spontaneous and unpredictable. I try to find balance between the two approaches, trying to capture the ephemeral, fleeting moments of time that inspire me.
Currently, my work is shown at Furchgott-Sourdiffe Gallery in Shelburne, VT, and at Stowe Craft Design Center in Stowe, VT; and in various Exhibits - visit my website for details on those rotating shows.
