Ellen Spring The first time I brushed a stroke of dye across a shimmering field of white silk I knew I was in the right place. Now the vessel is the garment and it contains the human form and both are changed in the process. Ceremonial garments are a cultural expression of spirituality. My wearable pieces are created with this in mind. Their rich colors and lively designs evoke celebration. Celebrations give us the opportunity to experience a sense of otherness. They give us pause and in that moment perhaps we take a deep breath, finding life more vibrant. My desire is to create garments that embody a bit of that magic and help keep it in our lives.
