RE: Directions to your Studio and Placement on the Map

Step One:

Before you complete this form, register for Open Studio Weekend using online forms or request one from the office. Online forms and info at these links:

Step Two:

Create directions to your studio by following the guidelines below and returning this to us by e-mail, mail or fax.

1. Please keep it as brief, simple and accurate as possible.

2. Start directions at a major nearby town or route and note which direction you are traveling. Give mileage amounts.

3. Use local landmarks and place names where helpful. You will be given yellow signs as roadside markers for the event, and they will guide visitors the last steps of the way.

4. Use a new sentence every time you make a major change in direction (this helps the mappers).

5. Use a computer to produce these directions unless you have fantastically clear handwriting or have no other choice. We have made many mistakes because we could not read handwriting. For example, 1.7 miles could become 17 miles if you are not careful to write clearly.

6. Be clear about punctuation. It can make a big difference too.

7. Before you send these directions, test them yourself. Make sure that you have not assumed or guessed some of the street names and mileage counts.

Example:

On I-89, take exit 8. Travel straight off the exit onto River Street. Go through 3 sets of lights and take a left at the fourth set onto Main St. Travel straight through the center of town to the roundabout and pass one street. The second street will be Elm St. Travel on Elm St. until #37 on the right. The studio is in back in the barn.

Download and print the PDF map (below) that shows your location. Make a sizable dot on top of your location and put a box around it so we can see it. (This is especially important if you plan to fax maps and directions.) Include this marked map with your directions. (See below)
